How to Solve Clogged Drains with Drain Cleaning Mixtures?

A drain cleaner is a chemical-based consumer product that unblocks sewer pipes or clogged wastewater drains. The term may also refer to a mechanical device such as a plumber's snake, drain auger, toilet plunger, or similar device.

If you have clogged drains at home, you can either do it yourself or call a plumber to clean your drains. Here are 5 recipes to unclog your drains at home using common home ingredients.

Mixture 1 - Baking Soda + Vinegar

Pour boiling water directly into the drain. Then, put 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar. Cover the drain to prevent the mixture from escaping. After 10 minutes, pour another cup of boiling water. Then, rinse the drain with hot tap water.

Mixture 2 - Baking Soda + Salt + Vinegar

In a bowl, mix baking soda (1/2 cup) and table salt (1/4 cup). Pour the mixture down the clogged drain. Then, pour heated vinegar (1 cup) into the drain. Cover the drain to prevent the mixture from escaping. After about 15 minutes, pour either boiling water or hot tap water down the drain for around one-half to one minute.

Before we proceed, always remember: Though the solutions mentioned above and the following solutions below can solve clog drains, it is only temporary. You need to repeat the process weekly or monthly. Plumbers are the ones who can give a permanent solution to clogged drains without harming your pipes. Mixture 3 - Baking Soda + Cream of Tartar + Table Salt

In a container, mix baking soda (2 cups), cream of tartar (1/8 cup), and table salt (1/2 cup). Shake the mixture. This is better mixed in a jar so you can shake the mixture well. Pour boiling water (2 cups) down the problematic drain, and then pour the mixture you made. Leave the drain unused for one hour. Salt and baking soda are good at removing clogs. The cream of tartar is good at cleaning metals.

Mixture 4 - Salt + Borax + Vinegar

Mix table salt (1/4 cup), Borax (1/4 cup), and vinegar (1/2 cup) in a container or bowl. Pour the mixture into the clogged drain. After pouring the mixture, pour boiling water into the drain. Leave it unused for 1 hour before rinsing it with hot tap water.

Mixture 5 - Dishwashing Detergent

In a pan of boiling water, add dishwashing detergent (2 tablespoons). Pour the mixture into the drain, gradually. This solution breaks grease that might be clogging your drain.
