Fixing a Leaky Roof Drain

When your roof leaks, there is a drain that you need to repair. It is difficult when it rains, and your roof has a lot of leaks. It's like you're bathing in the rain or having a sudden shower in your sleep. There are times when you repair it yourself because it is so easy for you. But as time went on, it dropped more frequently on your roof and drain becomes severe.  Instead of repairing it over and over again, call an expert to repair your roof drain more quickly.

Locate the Damage and Repair

You may know how to fix your roof drain through DIY procedures, but if the problem is serious call the expert plumbing company Miami-Dade County, FL for better repair.

Determine the damage and check the entire drainage section of the roof that seems to be leaking because it will ensure that you know the full scope of the problem. From the ground, use a pair of binoculars to check the gutting on the roof. When you have a clearer picture of the situation, set the ladder in the right position. Please do not use a main straight ladder as it may cause injuries, due to imbalance. As well as expressing a severe injury concern, you are more likely to cause more damage if you hold on to drainage to prevent yourself from the accident. Determine what type of material is your gutter. Make sure any replacement parts will be from the same material. Take measurements so you have the specifications of any replacement parts that may be needed.

Once you target the relevant leakage point, you will need to find out if you only need to patch the existing roof drain or replace the damaged section. Consider the extent of the damage caused and the size of the split to help you decide. It is better to replace a damaged area if it means not having to fix it regularly.

Rub the surface with sandpaper. Spread the roof cement over the hole in the roof.  And do it the same with some parts of the area before leaving it to dry. If it is a large hole that caused significant damage, cover the roof cement with a piece of sheet metal as a supplementary patch.

Do Some Replacement

You can replace the entire damaged drain section on the roof if the leak has caused a significant amount of damage. First, clean the drain with a wire brush. Pull the broken piece of pipe. If necessary,  unscrew it from the property. Scrub the mouth of the remaining drain sections to remove any fragments of old adhesive. Apply several caulk beads to one end of the replacement drain section before applying the new piece to the old one. Make sure they fit snugly in place before tightening any fixtures that will further seal the drain. Replace the screws that fix the gutter to the surface of the property.
