How to Prevent Foul Odor in Pipes

Blockages in the pipes can cause a foul odor in your area. The line may accumulate layers of gunk in your dishwasher and the shower sinks, which can cause overflowing of the drainage system. Older pipelines can crack easily, prone to damages which results in blockages that create a strong odor. You can use many household items, such as vinegar, baking soda, or oxygen bleach, as an alternative to commercial bleaching.

How to Lessen the Odor

Most household knows how to do proper procedures of eradicating awful smell in their area. If simple steps do not help remove the foul odor, the culprit might be bigger enough. It might be blockages that need the superior cleaning of an expert plumber in Mesa,AZ.

1.   To make a natural mixture, mix 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup salt. Pour it into the sink.

2.   Pour 1 cup of hot white vinegar into the sink; let it sit for an hour. Notice the mixture as it bubbles. Often the combination appears through the overflow pipe; this method depends on the foaming action required in the drainage. If this method does not work, you are more likely to need professional advice.

3.   Flush the drain with hot water for every 30-second intervals. You can repeat it if necessary. Fill the sink with a turkey baster and hot water.

4.   Check evenly if the overflow pipe still produces a foul odor. If the smell did not go away, the foaming has not reached the deep corner of the lines to resolve the issue. Open the window for ventilation. At this point, fill the turkey baster with oxygen bleach to surely lessen the odor.

5.   Fill the tip of the turkey baster into the overflowing pipe as possible.  Spray oxygen bleach into the tube vigorously. Follow this procedure twice or more to cover as much inside the line as necessary. Let the oxygen bleach settle for half a minute.

6.   Rinse the pipe by squirting in hot water with the turkey baster. Dip a cloth into the undiluted white vinegar and wipe the inside of the overflowing pipe very carefully. This process will remove any bacteria that live at the entrance of the opening. Add vinegar to evaporate.

Reminder:

Make sure to wear gloves or any protective gear for your safety.

This advice is to avoid an accident while doing the procedures.
